Case Study #1: A Modern Solution to a Historic Problem
Charleston is known for its beautiful, historic architecture. Many of the downtown homes make a spectacular setting for corporate events, parties and weddings. One of the biggest problems has been how to properly light these celebrations when the home is only equipped with minimal electrical capacity. Frequently you will be faced with the dilemma of providing power for the photographer, catering, band, and all of lighting fixtures it takes to transform the 200+ year old building into the majestic vision of the event planner. Until recent years, that meant bringing in an expensive, loud generator with miles of unsightly cables. With the advent of LED lighting, we are now capable of putting dozens, if not hundreds of bright, efficient lighting fixtures into that space with a minimum amount of power or heat. This also creates a much safer atmosphere for the guests and the building. You no longer have to worry about trip hazards from ugly cable bundles, or the risk of fire from scalding lighting fixtures. All of this while being able to create virtually any color at the flip of a switch. As an added bonus, there is a tremendous lowering of the environment impact. The use of LED fixtures is truly the wave of the future, when dealing with buildings from the past.
